Sperm Freezing
Cryopreservation is a process by which cells are preserved by cooling to sub-zero temperatures, typically -196°C. RGS provides a comprehensive range of services for people who, for medical or social reasons, wish to freeze their sperm. Sperm can be stored for up to 10 years and can usually be used for all treatment types (depending on the quality of the sperm at the time of freezing). In order to proceed with sperm freezing we require blood screening for HIV, Hepatitis B & C. It is also advised that the patient abstains from ejaculation for 2-3 days prior to the sperm freeze appointment. We are happy to take last minute bookings since we have the facility to perform the required blood screening on site. Results are routinely available on the same day.
